The 16th annual OppiKoppi Festival is coming soon. This year it is called “the sexy crooked teeth festival”, just for the fun of it! National Marimba Festival:

Making its debut in 2006, the National Marimba Festival accommodated close to 100 marimbas of varied shapes and sizes and hosted 450 participants. The Marimba Festival is set to continue this exciting trend. Living up to its reputation of being a truly South African gathering, the Festival will welcome participants from Gauteng, Cape Town, Grahamstown, East London, Port Elizabeth, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Swaziland, the North West and Mafikeng. Events include a Marimba Competition, Massed Marimba items, Drumming workshops and many more.

Rhythms on the square with Timothy Moloi:

Timothy Moloi will be performing a free concert for the patrons of Sandton Square on the 8th of August 2010 to celebrate Women’s Day. Moloi was recently seen singing in the Fifa World Cup opening ceremony where he helped kick off the biggest celebration this country has seen since 1994, so join him in celebrating the beautiful women that make South Africa the breath-taking country that it is, as he lends his soulful voice to this essential day.

The locust Festival:

The Locust Festival is designed to be an exceptional family day out. Themed with international foods and drinks from around the world alongside games and big competitions, the debut festival is taking place this Woman’s Day in Greenside, Johannesburg. The Locust Festival is one entirely unique concept, never previously seen or hosted in South Africa. Taking place on the 9th of August at Pirates Club, Greenside, The Locust Festival is jam-packed from morning to night with excitement. Rotary Art Festival:

The Rotary Club of Rosebank hosts its now legendary annual Art Festival in the Centre Court of Hyde Park Shopping Centre. At the grand opening on Tuesday 10 August at 18:00, visitors and guest celebrities will be able to enjoy a glass of wine while viewing over 150 fine artworks by 37 local artists.

Dachshund Show & Fun Day:

The event will be presented by the Miniature Dachshund Club of the Rand.  There will be four categories into which Dachshunds can be entered – Dachsie Stars for dogs that can do tricks; the Dachsie Dash for the fastest dog on the day, Golden Oldies for dogs over the age of 7 and the Dachsie Fancy Dress for the best dressed dog.

A mixture of international as well as local exhibitors will take part in SARCDA Christmas 2010, to be held over four days in August 2010. SARCDA Christmas 2009 saw a total of 429 exhibitors taking part in a highly successful exhibition. The show attracted in excess of 22 000 trade buyers.

The BMW International Polo Series, against a touring international team, is played in July / August each year. The first Test (always on a Sunday) is played at Shongweni, near Durban and the second Test, played a week later, is held at the Inanda Club in Sandton.
